Abstract:

This research examines the impact of school head management skills on effective school management, with a focus on selected secondary schools in Enugu South Local Government Area. The role of school leaders is pivotal in shaping the overall effectiveness and quality of education within an institution. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the management skills demonstrated by school heads and the overall effectiveness of school management in secondary educational settings.

Employing a mixed-methods research design, this study combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to collect comprehensive data. The quantitative phase involves the administration of structured questionnaires to school staff, including teachers and administrative personnel, to assess their perceptions of the management skills exhibited by school heads. The qualitative phase entails in-depth interviews with school heads to gain insights into their leadership approaches and strategies.

The research seeks to identify the key management skills deemed critical for effective school leadership, assess the current level of these skills among school heads, and explore how these skills contribute to overall school management effectiveness. The purpose of the study, “An Examination on the Impact of School Head Management Skills on Effective School Management: A Study of Selected Secondary Schools in Enugu South LGA,” is to comprehensively investigate and analyze the influence of school head management skills on the overall effectiveness of school management within the context of selected secondary schools in Enugu South Local Government Area (LGA).
