Abstract:
This study presents the design and implementation of a predictive web system aimed at evaluating job applicants’ eligibility based on relevant criteria. In response to the increasing need for efficient and objective hiring processes, the research focuses on leveraging data-driven methods to enhance decision-making in the recruitment domain. The web system integrates predictive modeling algorithms, user-friendly interfaces, and a comprehensive database to assess and forecast an applicant’s suitability for a specific job role.
The research employs a combination of machine learning techniques and web development methodologies to create a robust and user-friendly system. The predictive model considers various factors such as educational qualifications, work experience, skills, and relevant competencies to generate a comprehensive eligibility score for each applicant. Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
In the rapidly evolving landscape of recruitment and employment, organizations are continually seeking innovative solutions to streamline their hiring processes and identify the most qualified candidates. The traditional methods of reviewing resumes and conducting interviews, while still integral, are often time-consuming and may not provide a holistic assessment of an applicant’s eligibility for a job position. To address these challenges, the design and implementation of a web system for predicting the eligibility of job applicants emerges as a strategic and technologically-driven approach.
On-line activities have in recent past replaced virtually every form of transactions. This is because of the advent of the internet, which provides a global network connection for all such activities. With this technology, many institutions have their tentacles spread across the glob. In line with this trend, job search activities and job providers need to join the band wagon of the global community in shearing their information across the internet. The Project work is based on this notion.
A web portal, also known as a links page, presents information from diverse sources in a unified way. Apart from the standard search engine feature, web portals offer other services such as e-mail, news, stock prices, information, databases and entertainment. Portals provide a way for enterprises to provide a consistent look and feel with access control and procedures for multiple applications and databases, which otherwise would have been different entities altogether.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
The traditional recruitment process is often characterized by subjective decision-making, resulting in potential biases and inefficiencies. Employers face the challenge of navigating through a large pool of applicants, making it imperative to enhance the hiring process with predictive tools that can objectively assess an individual’s suitability for a particular job role. This study aims to explore the design and implementation of a web-based system that leverages predictive analytics to evaluate an applicant’s eligibility for a job based on predefined criteria.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
The primary objectives of this study are as follows:
To design a web system that incorporates predictive analytics for assessing job applicant eligibility.
To implement the proposed web system and validate its functionality.

1.4 Significance of the Study
This research holds significance for both employers and job seekers. For employers, the implementation of a predictive web system can optimize the recruitment process by automating the initial screening of applicants, saving time, and resources. Additionally, it contributes to the reduction of potential biases in the hiring process, fostering a more equitable selection of candidates. 1.5 Scope and Limitations

1.7 Definition of terms
RECRUITMENT: This refers to the process of attracting, screening and selecting qualified people for a job at an organization or firm.
WEB: This refers to a vehicle for accessing and sharing of information.
SERVER: A computer or program managing access to a resource or service in a network.
PORTAL: A web application that is designed to represent a ton of information in a concise and centered way thereby making the internet easier to use eg. Yahoo.com, Netscape.com, etc.
ONTOLOGY: Ontology in computer science and information technology is a formal representation of the knowledge by a set of concepts within a domain and the relationship between those concepts.
METADATA: This is loosely defined as data about data. It is a concept that applies mainly to electronically archived data and is used to describe the definition, structure and administration of data file with all contents in context to ease the use of the captured and archived data for further use.
SQL: Structured Query Language is a database computer language designed for managing data in relational database management system (RDBMS) and originally based upon relational algebra. It scope include data query and update, schema creation and modification, and data access control.
