Abstract:

This study investigates the influence of political science education on students’ political tolerance, aiming to elucidate the role of educational curricula in shaping democratic values and attitudes. Through a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from undergraduate students enrolled in political science courses across multiple universities. Quantitative surveys measured students’ levels of political tolerance before and after completing political science coursework, while qualitative interviews provided insights into the mechanisms underlying any observed changes. Results indicate a significant positive association between exposure to political science education and increases in political tolerance among students. Furthermore, qualitative analysis suggests that interactive pedagogical methods, critical discourse, and exposure to diverse perspectives play pivotal roles in fostering tolerance and understanding. These findings underscore the importance of political science education in promoting democratic values and citizenship engagement among students, with implications for curriculum design and educational policy.
