THE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE MADE FROM VARIOUS AGGREGATES

Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of the strength of concrete produced using various types of aggregates. Aggregates play a crucial role in determining the overall properties and performance of concrete, including its compressive strength, durability, and workability. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the differences in strength characteristics of concrete when different aggregates are utilized, such as crushed granite, gravel, and recycled concrete aggregates.

Concrete samples were prepared using a consistent mix ratio while varying the type of aggregate. Standardized tests, including compressive strength tests, were conducted on these samples at different curing periods (7, 14, 21, and 28 days) to assess their performance. The results indicated significant variations in the compressive strength of concrete depending on the type of aggregate used. Concrete made with crushed granite exhibited the highest strength, followed by gravel, while recycled concrete aggregates resulted in the lowest compressive strength.

The findings underscore the importance of aggregate selection in concrete production, highlighting that the type of aggregate significantly influences the mechanical properties of the final product. This research provides valuable insights for civil engineers and construction professionals in selecting appropriate aggregates for specific structural applications to optimize the performance and longevity of concrete structures.
