Abstract:
This research investigates the impact of the guided discovery teaching method on the academic achievement and attitudes of senior secondary school students in Jos South, Plateau State, Nigeria. The study seeks to assess the effectiveness of incorporating guided discovery as an instructional strategy in comparison to traditional teaching methods.
Employing a quasi-experimental design
, the research involves senior secondary school students from selected schools in Jos South. The intervention group experiences guided discovery lessons, while the control group receives instruction through conventional teaching methods. Academic achievement is measured through pre and post-test assessments, focusing on subject-specific content. Additionally, students’ attitudes toward the subject matter are gauged through surveys and qualitative feedback.
The study aims to provide empirical evidence on the influence of the guided discovery method on students’ academic performance and attitudes.
