EFFECTS OF AUTOCAD ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN BASIC TECHNOLOGY IN ADO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EKITI STATE
Abstract
The teaching of basic technology using AutoCAD is a crucial issue in the 21st century for the improvement of teaching in secondary schools. The study was designed to determine the effect of AutoCAD on the performance of secondary school students in basic technology. The study adopted quasi- experimental non –randomized pretest post test design. The sample comprised 60 J.S.S. two students drawn from the population through random sampling technique. The instrument was Students Achievement Test. Split half test was used to determine the reliability coefficient of the instrument. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test statistics was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings indicated that male students performed better than female students on the use of AutoCAD method. It was also indicated that female students exposed to conventional method performed better than the female students exposed to AutoCAD method. The findings also revealed that there was no significant difference between the mean scores of male and female students on the use of AutoCAD. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the government should organize workshops for basic technology teachers on the use of AutoCAD for effective teaching and learning of basic technology in secondary schools.
