EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE INTERNAL CONTROL SYSTEM IN HOTEL BUSINESSES
Abstract
Control is an investigation of whether a planned purpose has been reached. The structure that the controls form as a management function is called the internal control system. This study was conducted in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the internal control system applied in hotel enterprises. However, it takes place in the other purposes of the study is to find out whether the effectiveness of the internal control system applied in the hotel enterprises differs according to the classes of the hotel enterprises (4 star and 5 star) and their status (independent, national chain and international chain). For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to the managements of 54 hotels with 4 and 5 star hotels in the Central Anatolia Region with the latest tourism management certificate. According to the findings of the research, the conclusion has been reached that the internal control system in the hotel enterprises is operated effectively but the effectiveness of the internal control system does not show any meaningful difference according to the classes and statues of the hotel enterprises.
